Personal Introduction

My name is Kirenia “Cupcake” Carratala, and this project was born from my own journey of pain, recovery, and purpose.

After years of personal suffering, art became my medicine — a way to heal, to express what words could not, and to rediscover light through creativity.

Now, my goal is to share that healing with others, creating a space where art becomes therapy, where broken hearts can find peace, and where every person — no matter their challenges — can feel seen, valued, and inspired.

1. Purpose of the Group

The Creative Wellbeing Group aims to bring the people of Hartlepool together through art, poetry, and shared creativity.

The sessions are designed to support individuals living with disabilities, ADHD, autism, or emotional struggles, providing a safe and welcoming environment to express feelings through artistic creation.

This project is a reflection of hope — proof that creativity can heal, inspire, and unite us.

2. Aims and Objectives

  • To promote emotional wellbeing and mental health awareness through art.
  • To encourage self-expression and build confidence in participants.
  • To raise awareness about ADHD and autism, fostering inclusion and understanding.
  • To strengthen community connection and mutual support in Hartlepool.
  • To provide a creative outlet for people experiencing isolation, disability, or trauma.

3. Activities

Each Thursday session includes:

  • Art Lessons: Teaching drawing and painting techniques suitable for all abilities.
  • Poetry & Creative Writing: Guided activities to express emotions through words.
  • Mindfulness & Reflection: Gentle exercises to relax and promote inner peace.
  • Art Exhibition: A weekly display of participants’ artwork to promote wellbeing, inclusion, and awareness.

4. Target Group

  • Individuals with ADHD, autism, or disabilities.
  • People facing loneliness, emotional distress, or trauma.
  • Members of the community seeking to improve wellbeing through creativity.

5. Expected Outcomes

  • Improved confidence and emotional expression through art.
  • Stronger community connections and reduced isolation.
  • Increased awareness of ADHD and autism in the community.
  • Visible growth in creativity, self-esteem, and wellbeing.

6. Long-Term Vision

To establish a permanent creative wellbeing space in Hartlepool,

where art, healing, and community support come together —

a place where creativity becomes a bridge between pain and beauty,

and where everyone has a chance to heal, grow, and shine.
