El Eclipse de Tu Corazón

Sentada, contemplo cómo pasan
los mejores años de mi vida,
cómo se alejan lentamente
y no regresan jamás,
como lágrimas de terciopelo
que caen, desoladas,
huyendo de una verdad
que mi corazón no quiere aceptar.

El respiro de tu mirada
atraviesa cada rincón de mi alma,
y la parte en tres mil pedazos
que caen, uno a uno,
como lágrimas sobre el suelo.

Lloro como un niño
huyendo de su propia pesadilla,
intentando acariciar el viento
que lleva consigo tu desaliento.

Como un niño escondido
en un rincón de mi alcoba,
me desangro lentamente,

y yo susurraba:
Te necesito para siempre.

Pero ahora caigo de tu estrado,
caigo desde lo alto de tu mirada,
como una estrella que pierde su cielo,
como la última luz
antes de un eclipse total.

Y en la oscuridad de mi corazón,
solo queda tu ausencia:
un eclipse total de mi alma,
un eclipse total de tu corazón.

The Eclipse of Thy Heart

Seated, I behold the passing years,
the fairest years of all my life,
slipping quietly beyond my grasp,
never to return again—
like velvet tears that fall
upon the desolate earth,
fleeing from a truth
my heart is yet unwilling to confess.

The breath within thy gaze
pierces every chamber of my soul,
and rends it into three thousand pieces,
each fragment falling softly
beneath the weight of sorrow.

I weep as a little child
fleeing from his darkest nightmare,
reaching forth to caress the wind
that carries the sorrow of thy departing heart.

Like a lonely child within the corner of my chamber,
I bleed in silence,
whilst every tear descends
and every tender memory breaks.

I watch thy footsteps fade into the distance,
and with them I release my caresses—
those gentle affections
once poured upon thee
like rain upon a thirsty garden.

Now there remains but silence,
and every breath I draw
bears the wound of thy abandonment.

Once upon a time,
we lived beneath a happier sky,
when thy presence seemed eternal,
and I whispered unto thee:

“I shall need thee forever.”

Yet now I fall from thy throne,
cast down from the heights of thy gaze,
like a wandering star bereft of heaven,
like the final candle
before the coming darkness.

And within the chambers of my heart,
only thy absence remains—

a total eclipse of my soul,
a total eclipse
of thy heart.
